Ironic that Sullivan should mention of bringing A-Game when he didn't manage to bring his own A-Game to his individual events' finals in Beijing. WR holder in 2 events but no gold. He managed to beat Phelps in the relay lead off. I bet that was the only time so far. And how many times have Phelps beaten Sullivan in 100 Free. I can remember at least 5 occasions: 06 Pan Pac, 07 Worlds in relay lead off, 07 Duel in the Pool, 06 & 07 Santa Clara. Sullivan has improved a lot this year after release of LZR Racer. But Phelps still has a good chance going forward if he can focus on training for the sprint (maybe not 50 Free). Sullivan, as a WR holder, better brings his A-Game more.

I just read biographies on both of them. Spitz faded into oblivion after a year or two because his character flaws outweighed his looks. He's had a chip on his shoulder ever since the limelight faded. Phelps will be the opposite, and have staying power.
